International Pension Schemes
This section provides information on common International Pension Schemes.
International schemes can offer advantages to individuals who are looking to transfer frozen UK pension funds. The 3 most commonly used schemes are:
A Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme (QROPS)
Registered with HMRC and allows UK pension benefits to be transferred overseas.
A Qualifying Non UK Pension Scheme (QNUPS)
Does not have to be registered with HMRC and it is generally used by UK/non-UK residents looking for an international pension scheme. UK pension benefits cannot be transferred to a QNUPS.
A Self-Invested Personal Pension Scheme (SIPPS)
Can be available to UK/non-UK residents; these schemes are generally registered in the UK.
